Get in the Spartanburg Swing of Things

Whether you’re returning from your summer adventures or heading to Spartanburg for the first time, we’re here to help you get in the Spartanburg-swing of things. Before you hit the books, explore Spartanburg’s newest options and return to some of your favorite spots.

First Week Feast

Kick off the first week of classes with a full belly by stopping by one of Spartanburg’s many college-friendly spots. New to downtown: Eggs Up Grill and Moe’s Southwest Grill (find a coupon to each in the College Town Coupon Book!) Coming Soon: Sidewall Pizza and Smallcakes. And, not to be forgotten, Spartanburg’s favorite staples like Delaney’s, Wade’s, and Main Street Pub (now serving lunch.)

Get Out and Explore

Spartanburg’s the perfect spot to stay active or pick back up after your laid-back summer. Head over to the Mary Black Rail Trail to see how it has transformed with the Rail Yard and Carolina Panthers Play 60 Park. (Think you can top Cam Newton’s 40-yard dash time?) Take a spin on Spartanburg’s new dockless BCycles, or sign up for a Cyclebar class.

Earn Some Cultural Clout

Walk downtown and look around - there’s lots of new Instagrammable art to see. Our favorite? The Creative Crosswalks in Morgan Square. While you’re walking around, keep an eye out for local musicians performing as part of the Chapman Cultural Center’s Downtown Programming. Want even more live music? Head to the Melting Pot Music Festival on Sept. 28.

College Fest

Last but certainly not least, be there when Downtown Spartanburg is turned into a huge outdoor dance floor. College Fest will be Sept. 26 with live music, food from local restaurants, and free shirts available with you student ID from Converse, SCC, Sherman, SMC, USC Upstate, VCOM and Wofford.
